It’s that time of the month again! Every third Thursday ATL promoters Pop Death Squad set up shop at the Star Bar and host the always free Big Trouble In Little 5 Points showcasing some of the best musicians in town – and a couple out of towners too!
Tonight’s show features recent ATL transplant Listener, who created a sub-genre that combines folk, spoken-word rants, hip-hop beats, a washing machine and a sledge hammer; he calls it “talk music,” we call it good. Indie band Teddy and the Bears are full of poppy-hooks that get a crowd moving and shaking – and in no time everyone is singing along to their infectiously catchy tunes. Headlining tonight are Atlanta’s The Mind Creatures. Originally a concept band fronted by MC Mr. Wyzard, the idea was to have a live interpretation of indie hip-hop group Psyche Origami. Something happened though, The Mind Creatures evolved from a side-project/experiment into a full-time monster. The seven-to-nine-piece band are able to play bigger shows to bigger crowds then they had previously as a two DJs/one MC act. We’re excited to see them – you should be too.
