[ 0 ] June 2, 2011 |

Atlanta is getting into the summer spirit with an onslaught of open air shows. The Atlanta Botanical Garden, Chastain Park Amphitheatre and more are kicking off their summer music series, and the Starlight Six Drive-In will have their awesome Rock and Roll Monster Bash too. Don’t forget to pack the sunscreen and drink plenty of water with your other libations!

Thursday, June 2 – The Constellations at Smith’s Olde Bar

If you’re gearing up for a party, then Atlanta’s greatest noisemakers, The Constellations, have you sorted. They’ve been on a huge tour with Minus the Bear, so be at Smith’s to welcome them home.

Friday, June 3 – Jonny Lang at Atlanta Botanical Garden

Blue guitar whizkid Jonny Lang is quickly growing into a man, and his skills are still as impressive as ever. Catch him in Atlanta as he opens Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Concerts in the Garden series.

Friday, June 3 – The Monkees at Chastain Park Amphitheatre

Catch Davy, Micky and Peter (sorry, still no Michael Nesmith) as they sing through crowd faves like “Daydream Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “I’m A Believer” and more.

Friday, June 3 – Matt and Kim at The Masquerade

Matt and Kim will be bringing the dance to The Masquerade with their synth punk sounds that all the cool kids love.

Saturday, June 4 – Ian McLagan at Smith’s Olde Bar

Rock ‘n’ roll legend Ian McLagan has really been around – he was in The Small Faces and The Faces after all, which makes him officially cool. He returns to Smith’s for an intimate show this weekend.

Sunday, June 5 – Rock and Roll Monster Bash at Starlight Six Drive-In Theatre

Get your hefty dose of hot rods, rock ‘n’ roll and classic movies at this year’s Rock and Roll Monster Bash.

Sunday, June 5 – B.B. King and Buddy Guy at Chastain Park Amphitheatre

It’s a blues legends double header at Chastain – a suitable way to wrap up the weekend and prepare for the coming Monday.
