This holiday weekend is shaping up to be a hot one! There’s some incredible shows going on, most of which are sold out so we hope you bought your tickets in advance. And then of course there are some great Fourth of July events too. Have a burger and a beer for us!
Thursday, June 30 – Kool Keith at The EARL
You may know Kool Keith as a solo rap legend, or a leader of the new-school hip-hop group Ultramagnetic MCs, but at any rate you should know him. Catch him at The EARL with DT & Dr. Conspiracy and local rappers Bikinis Recs.
Thursday, June 30 – Foster the People at The Masquerade
L.A.’s Foster the People are defying genres faster than they are gaining fans. Hence their sold out show in Atlanta tonight. We hope you got tickets! If you didn’t, try catching them at Criminal Records for their instore today. All you have to do is buy a CD or LP and get a wristband to get in, or risk it and show up at 5.30 p.m. to see if they have any wristbands leftover. More info HERE.
Friday, July 1 – Travelling Without Moving at Smith’s Olde Bar
Missing the eclectic sound and smooth-moves of Jamiroquai? Then catch out the incredible all-star local tribute act Travelling Without Moving at Smith’s tomorrow night.
Friday, July 1 – Florence and the Machine at Fox Theatre
We are seriously mesmerized by the incredible voice of British red head Florence Welch. If you have tickets to her sold out show at the Fox count yourself lucky!
Saturday, July 2 – The Swingin’ Medallions at Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater
“The party band of the South,” according to Lewis Grizzard (and who would argue with him?), helps you celebrate the holiday weekend with a night of dancing in Peachtree City.
Saturday, July 2 – Guadalcanal Diary at Smith’s Olde Bar
Classic Athens indie rockers are returning to the stage, much to the joy of many a local music nerd. They rocked it at AthFest last weekend, so catch the next round in Atlanta on Saturday.
Saturday, July 2 – Washed Out at The EARL
Atlanta’s Ernest Greene, AKA Washed Out, comes back for a hometown gig after hitting the indie rock heights (signed to Mexican Summer! Great reviews on Pitchfork!) in the past few years.

This all-day event sees a DJ Hakim kicking off the festivities at 6 a.m. for the Peachtree Road Race, and continues with great drink deals, live music from Col. Bruce Hampton and more.
