AMG Weekend Picks: Bryan Adams, Laura Cantrell, Lil’ Wayne and More!

[ 0 ] August 4, 2011 |

Phew, this weekend is going to be a packed one! Guitar prodigies, rock legends, dance parties, rap stars, indie darlings – we can hardly breathe for choices. Or maybe that’s the oppressive heat. Either way, there’s plenty to keep your mind occupied. And there is a TON of shows going on sale this weekend too, to make you long even more for the cool temps of fall.

Thursday, August 4 – Tyler Bryant at Smith’s Olde Bar

Guitar-wielding kid wonder Tyler Bryant takes a break from sharing the stage with the likes of Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, Slash, Aerosmith, B.B. King and Vince Gill to headline his own tour, stopping in Atlanta tonight.

Friday, August 5 – Bryan Adams at Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater

Renaissance music man (he’s a sought-after photographer for magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire and others, as well as having exhibits at fancy-pants galleries like Saatchi Gallery in London, y’know)  brings his Bare Bones Tour to Peachtree City’s lovely outdoor venue this weekend.

Friday, August 5 – Laura Cantrell at Red Light Cafe

Lovely Nashville country singer-songwriter Laura Cantrell showcases her homage to country queen Kitty Wells at the cozy Red Light Cafe this Friday night.

Friday, August 5 – Through the Rabbit Hole at Star Bar

DJ Klever and Nappy Roots headline a banging free night of floor-fillers and heavy basslines in Little Five Points’ kick-ass Star Bar tomorrow night.

Saturday, August 6 – Lil’ Wayne at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood

The possibly-retiring rapper brings his “I’m Still Music” tour to Atlanta for a sure-to-be epic performance. Catch him at one of his maybe-last shows while you still can.

Sunday, August 7 – Kurt Vile and the Violators at The EARL

Indie blog darling Kurt Vile will be packing out The EARL, despite the fact that he’ll be wrapping up the weekend, not kicking it off.
