On Sunday, October 16, Piedmont Park will host the 21st annual AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run. The event has grown to be the largest AIDS-related fundraising event in the Southeast. In 2010 alone, the walk had 10,000 registered participants and raised $920,000.
AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run has stayed true to its affirmation of “Every Life Deserves Hope” by raising funds for organizations in the metro-Atlanta area that provide imperative programs for over 25,000 people infected or affected with HIV/AIDS. AID Atlanta and nine other non-profit organizations provide treatment, medications, prevention education, meals, housing, mental health services, child care, substance abuse counseling, pastoral care, and clinic research.
