What’s Up Thursday?

[ 0 ] July 19, 2012 |

Well thank the stars above that this week is almost over!!! I’m not sure about you, but this week has been dragging! Let the fin begin with some our picks for this fine Thursday eve..

-As a little punk rock girl, I would definitely be on my way to Athens tonight to see Clutch and Prong at the 40 Watt!

-He’s My Brother She’s My Sister seem to invite a broad range of colorful words to describe their music and performances: “flamboyant folk,” “psych-acoustic,” “estranged and glamorous” and “vaudeville-y.” No doubt this is due to their mélange of musical styles, both modern and antique; their eccentric attire and sense of expression, both sincere and theatrical; and, their unique instrumentation, which includes a rhythm section bolstered by a tap dancer. See them tonight at The Earl with Golden Animals.

-English indie rockers, Scars on 45, have been catching the ears of many and are playing at Vinyl tonight.

-Jamie Teachenor is a successful Nashville songwriter who first appeared on the charts in 2005 with Blaine Larsen’s debut hit single, “How Do You Get That Lonely”, a song that is a powerful message in the face of suicide. Teachenor has also had songs recorded by Joey+Rory, Kevin Denney, Gretchen Wilson, Montgomery Gentry, Trisha Yearwood, Trace Adkins, and Luke Bryan. He was presented with his first gold record in 2011, when Luke Bryan’s “Doin’ My Thing” album was certified gold. He is currently signed to a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Tree and continues to prove himself as a contender in the world of songwriting. He is playing Eddie’s Attic tonight.

-The artists known as Almighty Dolla, Johnny BOI and Nem collectively make up the group EDUBB (pronounced E-Dubb). With more than 1 million YouTube views for their Official “Whooty” video, and over 8 million “Whooty” related YouTube views, the guys even garnered mentions of their work on TMZ two times.  They are playing tonight at Smith’s Olde Bar.

-Over at the Drunken Unicorn, Atlanta favorites, Stokeswood and Heavy Mojo will be rocking out.

-If you find yourself at the Masquerade, make sure to check out And So I Watch You From Afar, Zechs Marquise, From Where I’m Standing, Xavii.
