What’s Up Wednesday?

So who watched the debate last night? OK, wait don’t answer…everyone gets so fired up as soon as you say the word debate! We are halfway through the week my friends, here are some events that shouldn’t be up for a debate!

-I LOVE me some Shovels & Rope! As does a to of people obviously, because they are packing out venues everywhere they tour. They are at The Earl.

-Chicago-based Procrast (Tom Evans) first blended Rick Astley snippets with 2 Live Crew grooves as a way to avoid productive activity in 2008, while DJ Griffi (Dan Griffith) embarked on the same mission, for a similar purpose, in L.A. Their combined effort, the White Panda, launched in 2009 with a single that topped internet radio charts days later. They are at The Loft.

-Since the group’s inception in Omaha, Nebraska more than a decade ago – recording its first sides with Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes in his basement – Tilly and the Wall has managed to ingeniously combine folk-rock strumming, schoolyard sing-along rhymes, unison male-female vocals and rapid-fire beats; catch them at Terminal West.

-Since their last full length, 2010′s Wild Go, Dark Dark, Dark has toured extensively in the US and Europe, enjoyed sold out shows, national radio appearances, and support dates for bands like The National and Low. They’ve had TV placements on Grey’s Anatomy, Parks and Recreation, and American Idol, and their appearance on the UK’s Live From Abbey Road was a highlight of the season. 529 baby.

-Tonight at Eddie’s Attic: Tim O’Brien’s has been performing before capacity crowds in the band of Mark Knopfler, who described O’Brien as “a master of American folk music, Irish music, Scottish music – it doesn’t matter; a fine songwriter and one of my favorite singers.”

-Hailing from Jopllin, Missouri and tonight at Smith’s Olde Bar, The Ben Miller Band is a one-of-a kind trio that combines the frenetic energy of bluegrass, the soul of the delta blues and the haunted spirit of Appalachian mountain music.

-Avant garde punk and funk, micro-house producer, Matthew Dear, is at the Masquerade tonight.
