The weekend is in sight and we are stoked! Luckily, there are some AH-mazing shows and events taking place in Atlanta tonight to make the day go by faster! So many awesome choices! Which show will you be attending?
BMI New Artist Showcase @ Eddie’s Attic
Featuring Mathai, Ulrika and Prisca. Never thinking music would get her anywhere, singing was always considered more of just a hobby for Mathai. Classically trained in jazz during her childhood, Mathai started developing her unique vocal style around the age of 16 with a sound reminiscent of such artists as Billie Holiday, Norah Jones, Nelly Furtado and Adele. Her parents, who were once completely against her decision, are now warily but lovingly supportive after seeing how people reacted to their daughter’s talent during the blind auditions for NBC’s hit television show, The Voice Season 2.
Wild Cub @ The Earl
With Natalie Prass. Formed in early 2012 by songwriter-composer Keegan DeWitt and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Bullock, Wild Cub’s debut LP ‘Youth’ was released last August in the US, and showcases the now five-piece band’s dexterity in seamless transitions between infectious electro-pop, tropical rhythms, and quiet washes of cinematic reflection.
Death of Kings @ The Basement at Graveyard Tavern
With Demonaut, Zruda and Dropout. Come out and support these four local metal bands! Nothing’s better than celebrating music from YOUR city!
Share for Shane @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Long time friend of the Smith’s Olde Bar family, Shane Maneri, was involved in a brutal attack while visiting his niece in New York over Memorial Day weekend. The attack left him with injuries to his face, neck, chest, as well as a crushed leg that required emergency trauma surgery.
Smith’s Olde Bar will be hosting a benefit for Shane on Thursday August 15th. The event will feature special performances from some of Atlanta’s best local talent, including Too Many Necks (ft. Cameron Williams, Nelson Nolen, Benji Shanks and more to be announced soon!), Clay Conner Band and more! There will be a silent auction going on throughout the event and complimentary hor d’oeuvres from the fine folks at Fox Bros Barbeque, Big Tex Decatur, Aaron Siegel of Home Team BBQ from Charleston, SC and Billy Pero of Pero’s Pizza.
Smith’s Olde Bar, Fox Bros BBQ, Big Tex Decatur along with Pelham’s Bar and Brother’s Bar in Jacksonville, AL will also be donating a percentage of proceeds the night of August 15th to Share for Shane.
Tall Bear @ Vinyl
With Colors. Tall Bear formed in late 2010 from the musical inspirations of Jonathan Ray. Drummer Christian Musgrove joined the band in mid-2011. Tall Bear was intended as a private musical project for Jonathan, meant for family and friends only, but with the joining of Christian, the two decided to bring the project out of the dark and record a full length record. They currently have an EP out which has three songs on it off the upcoming record “Calling All Time Travelers”.
Alex Goot @ The Masquerade
In 2007, Goot launched his YouTube channel titled Goot Music. At first his recordings consisted of him singing and playing the piano (ie: his 2010 cover of “Dark Blue” by Jack’s Mannequin) but after seeing YouTube sensation Pomplamoose and how the duo layered their music, he was inspired to change his production style. Recording original music as well as covers. Alex Goot is the 38th most subscribed user on YouTube.
The Killers @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
With The Virgins. The Killers dropped an album last fall and are hitting Atlanta tonight to share both new and old hits! Come see them rock!
