Hailing from Joplin, Missouri, The Ben Miller Band is a one-of-a kind trio that combines the frenetic energy of bluegrass, the soul of the delta blues and the haunted spirit of Appalachian mountain music. Band members Ben Miller, Scott Leeper, and Doug Dicharry create a unique and modern sound while continuing the tradition of blending together many different musical styles, which has long been a trait of their native Ozarks.

Desert Noises with The Winter Sounds, Shawn Spencer of Seven Handle Circus, and Small Houses The EARL
The twenty-something cohorts Kyle Henderson, Tyler Osmond, Patrick Boyer, and Brennan Allen set off in a van three years ago and haven’t stopped since. Their album 27 Ways is being released on indie label, SQE Music, and ironically, considering the band’s name, the album opens with the sound of waves crashing on the ocean. It incorporates influences in beat-oriented soul and R&B as well as classic psychedelic rock, all often in the same song.

Pompeya with Leverage Models at 529
Drawing inspiration from 70s disco, 80s New Wave and 90s indie rock, Moscow’s Pompeya creates unabashed pop music. The group’s weaves vibrant harmonies, melodic synth lines, and punchy guitar riffs to create a sound copmared favorably to that of Holy Ghost! and Cut Copy. 2014 will see the band’s SXSW debut, full U.S. tour, as well much anticipated new material.

Run River North writes brilliant harmonies paired with layered instrumentations and puts on an awe-inspiring live show. “It’s about the song and the passion of how it’s conveyed. When it’s authentic, it’s magic and that’s what Run River North are creating…magic,” says CEO of Nettwerk Music Group Terry McBride, regarding recently adding the band to their label. Formed in 2011, Run River North is Alex Hwang (lead vocals, guitars), Daniel Chae (vocals, strings), Jennifer Rim (strings), Joe Chun (bass, vocals), John Chong (drums, vocals) and Sally Kang (vocals, keyboards).

The Main Squeeze at Smith’s Olde Bar
The Main Squeeze is a raging funk experience born within the thriving live music scene of Bloomington, Indiana, and currently residing in Chicago, IL. Since coming together in late 2009, The Squeeze have managed to establish a unique sound and identity in a short period of time. The Squeeze released their debut self-titled album in June 2012. Much like each member’s varied backgrounds and influences, the album itself contains an eclectic blend of inspiration which seamlessly navigates through funk, rock, electro, and jazz, while still rooting itself in something that’s uniquely their own.

Trust with Mozart’s Sister at The Drunken Unicorn
TRUST is the musical project of Toronto artist Robert Alfons. After years of extensive touring, and garnering glowing praise from top international critics at Pitchfork, VICE, and The Guardian UK for the 2012, Juno-nominated debut album TRST, Alfons released his follow-up album Joyland, an eruption of guts, eels, and joy, this past March.
