Last May, Atlanta welcomed the inaugural year of the Shaky Knees Festival. This weekend, May 9-11, the music festival returns to the city for its sophomore year. However, this year festival-goers will notice a few major changes including: a day-long extension, a venue change and, of course, the larger lineup.

That’s right, for those of you who haven’t checked out the lineup, the festival expanded from just Saturday and Sunday to now include Friday as well! And the Friday lineup is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Acts include Spoon, Dropkick Murphys, Cage the Elephant, The National and many more! Not to mention, the rad late night shows scheduled to take place at The EARL, Vinyl, Terminal West, The Masquerade and Centerstage.

Along with the addition of Friday night comes another big change- the move from Masquerade and Old Fourth Ward Park to Atlantic Station. The change came to accommodate the much larger crowd, which is anticipated to attend throughout the weekend. While the venue has grown in size, the festival big wigs still promise the same intimate experience as last year’s event.

Lastly, the lineup has exploded compared to last year’s roster of artists. The headliners for last year’s shows were Band of Horses and The Lumineers and other acts featured included Delta Spirit, Dr. Dog and Moon Taxi. All in all, last year’s artist tally totaled 30 acts. This year’s lineup is double that of last years, not including the late night shows! Headliners this year include The National, Modest Mouse and Alabama Shakes. Other acts you can expect to see throughout the weekend include Violent FemmesCold War Kids, Tokyo Police Club, Local Natives, Jenny Lewis, The Replacements and dozens more!
