Ari Hest

Don’t let Hump Day get you down. There are at least 4 super fun shows going on to help keep the mid-week blues at bay. Here are a few of the ones we’ll be attending tonight:

Ari Hest with special guests, Jill and Kate @ Eddie’s Attic

On Ari Hest’s recent June 8th release ‘Shouts and Whispers’, singer-songwriter Ari Hest created a non-typical collection of tracks that ultimately form a cohesive narrative. With songs of sadness and resignation giving way to lucidity andcatharsis, Hest’s introspection and intelligence are on display, creating moments of magic within his poetic, spare lyrics and backing them up with his ear for haunting melodies.

Tickets are $19 at the door. Table seats are $18.25 and must be purchased in multiples of 4. Online and phone sales close at 5pm.

Black Taxi w/ special guests @ The EARL

Black Taxi is one of NYC’s most prominent live acts, smashing an anything-goes punk ethos together with pop sensibilities, unparalleled energy, and brilliant songwriting. The result is a raucous stage show, heavy on harmonies, spitfire guitar licks, body paint, and all manner of instrumentation. Their style has been described varyingly as “grit-pop” or “dance punk”, and though their songs hint at the Talking Heads, Cake, and Daft Punk, they are driven by something entirely new and infectious.

Tickets are $8. Doors open at 8:30 pm. Online and phone sales close at 6pm.
