We wanted to show our amazing city some love by giving a shout out to some of the best local bands. Here are the top picks you guys suggested, take a listen and keep spreading the word!

1. Quiet Hounds

Quiet Hounds‘ pure and authentic sound can grab anyone’s attention. These are gentlemen of various talents and all is good in the world, so long as the Quiet Hounds are left to their instrumental odds and ends – exploring the power of their own collective voice.

You might have seen them at Athfest in the past, but they are back and better than ever. On August 9th, Quiet Hounds are opening for Rodrigo y Gabriela at at Chastain Park Amphitheatre!

2. Concord America

Concord America is on tour as we speak! Some of you might have seen them last night at 97 Estoria; however, if you missed them they will be at Green Room tonight in Athens. Trust us, they are worth the drive.

This infectious trio consisting of brothers formed around their mutual love for Rock & Roll but found their unique sound in areas ranging from classic Garage and late-50’s Doo-Wop all the way to Proto Grunge, and Power-Pop.

3. Mood Rings

Their mellow sound is great for lounging around your house or a relaxing drive around town. Even better news, they are currently working on material for a new album!

4. Small Reactions

Small Reactions play nerve pop. Relying on the minimal instrumentation of guitar, bass, vintage organs, and drums, the quartet is equal parts new wave and post-punk, drone and surf. They are a band of four guys who pull from various literary, geometric, and culinary influences in order to create and perform. Their live shows express a sense of urgency, affectation, and a blur of electric noise.

Look out for Hung from Wire, Small Reactions’ latest three-track offering, that comes out tomorrow!

5. Hello Ocho

If you think their music videos are unique, wait until you see them live. ln the beginning, Hello Ocho’s primary motivation as a band was to make people dance. Now, the group’s lineup has fluctuated, expanding and settling as a five-piece.

They have a show coming up on August 9th at The Earl. We hope to see you there!
