5GB Interview: Marc Broussard playing at People’s Fest 2013 in Atlantic Station, 6/22

Marc Broussard is an artist with a unique gift of channeling the spirits of classic R&B, rock and soul into contemporary terms. Throughout his life, Broussard has been tapped as a talent to watch. Marc’s song “Home” was successful at radio and catapulted him onto the national touring stage. His music has been placed in many TV shows and movies. The timeless, soulful nature of Marc’s vocal lends well to Film and TV, and will continue to do so for years to come.

Marc caught up with us for our 5GB interview and though this interview does not reflect a whole lot of sarcasm, Marc is definitely a sarcastic fella! He doesn’t take himself too seriously and we like that.

See Marc Broussard with Sonia Leigh, Ben Deignan, and Jameson Elder this Saturday, June 22nd at Atlantic Station!

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

It was a gig for my dad in Destin, FL. It was an annual thing and we’d vacation there around this gig.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

I was part of a Wilson Pickett Tribute with Solomon Burke and Leela James for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York City. Long story short: Sting hugged me and told me I was a badass.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

I’d have to say that seeing Prince live was a serious highlight. He’s an incredible performer and probably the most entertaining front man of all time.

Gig you would most like to play?

I think it’d be huge to play Madison Square Garden in front of a sold-out crowd on Thanksgiving Weekend!

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

David Ryan Harris, Gabe Dixon, Blake Mills, and Stevie Wonder
