5GB & Ticket Giveaway! Scars On 45; Playing Vinyl, Thursday July 19th

Um, how many of you have had this song stuck in your head over the past few months, cause I know that I have! English indie rockers Scars on 45 have caught a lot of attention on this side of the pond, most notably by well-known music supervisor Alex Patsavas (Twilight, etc) who signed the band to her Chop Shop Records. The band’s latest album entered Billboard’s “Heatseekers” album chart in the number 4 position. They joined us for our 5GB before their show on Thursday at Vinyl. Be sure and enter the contest below to WIN TICKETS to see the band!

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

I was 14 years old and it was UK indie band The Charlatans at London Docklands Arena. It remains to this day the loudest gig I’ve ever been to! I was right up front crushed in with all these strangers sweating half my body weight throughout the show. Loved it!

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

I think we’d each have different answers for this but for me it would have to be a show from our tour with the Fray earlier this year at The Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA. From the moment we walked on you could tell the crowd was up for it. There was even a point in between songs where they just applauded and cheered for a whole minute while we just stood there literally speechless. It was a very special moment. It’s true what they say, the audience really does make the show.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

Faithless at Glastonbury 2002…incredible.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

We’ve already been lucky enough to play Red Rocks in Colorado, so I would have to say the Royal Albert Hall in London…there’s so much history in that venue.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

I love seeing bands play smaller, more intimate venues. What would be amazing would be to see U2 play the Royal Albert Hall. That would be something very special. Then I’d have to get my favourite band the Eels to open for them. It’s not a great match but who cares…it’s my show! Obviously we’d have to get Scars on 45 in there too so we’d go on first of 3…then go have a few drinks and enjoy the rest of the night!
