5GB With Langhorne Slim; Playing The Earl Tonight, June 11th

Pennsylvania-born singer/songwriter, Langhorne Slim, has built a strong following with his constant touring with bands like, on tours with Cake, The Avett Brothers, Murder By Death, Jeffrey Lewis, The Violent Femmes, Lucero, Rocky Votolato, the Woes, Josh Ritter, Drive-By Truckers, The Low Anthem, and Old 97’s. He has been named WXPN’s “Artist to Watch,” and joined us for our 5GB series before his show tonight at The Earl.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

Herman’s hermits at a state fair in New Jersey. I love them dearly to this day.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

I have lots of favorites but the first time I played banaroo was very special. I was still playing solo and had never performed in front of any wear near that amount of people. It was one of the first times that I fully realized I could get people to totally freak out just solo on acoustic guitar. It was very magical.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

I recently saw Wreckless Eric in a small rock club in Portland. There were 15 year old punk rockers and 60 year old punk rockers and we all danced hard. The best shows are the ones where nobody cares about anything but the joy and soul of the music.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

Letterman this year on my birthday

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

I’d like for Dylan, Cohen, Young and I to write songs and perform them at lets say…Radio City. It might be tuff to get them all together though so maybe just get to radio city on my own and see who shows up.

Catch Langhorne Slim tonight at The Earl
