5GB With Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers; Playing 2nd Annual Fourth Fest at MARKET, July 4th

The life of singer Nicki Bluhm has been transformed overnight and fate has played a large part in her success.  The rising star was noticed at a party by Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips and the two tied the knot shortly thereafter.  Since then, Nicki has been touring in support of her new albums, sharing the stage with Chris Robinson, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Steve Kimock, Jackie Greene, Pegi Young, Josh Ritter, and many others. She is playing the MARKET’s 2nd Annual Fourth Fest, and joined us for our 5GB series.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

I saw George Strait at the Arco Arena in Sacramento when I was probably 13. My very first concert.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

We just did a residency in our home town of San Francisco in June that was really special. We played a lot of old songs, new songs and tributes to some of our favorite artists. We also had a lot of local musicians sit in with us with us over the course of the three shows including Mark Karan (RatDog) , Grahame Lesh, Scott Law, Trevor Garrod (Tea Leaf Green), Greg Loiacono (The Mother Hips) and Dan Lebowitz (ALO). All three shows sold out and the energy in the room each night was amazing.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

I saw Further on NYE in the late 90’s. I never got to see The Grateful Dead perform before Jerry died so this was the closest I came to hearing those songs live. My older brother took me to see the show. The production of the show was so overwhelming impressive. That paired with hearing all the songs I grew up listening to live for the first time was a very memorable experience I will never forget.

What is the gig you would most like to play?

I would love to tour Europe!

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

1972 Eagles& Linda Ronstadt or Dolly Parton & Merel Haggard.
