5GB With Over The Rhine; Playing Eddie’s Attic Tonight April 27th

Ohio-based husband-and-wife team of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Linford Detweiler and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Karin Bergquist, otherwise known as Over the Rhine, have shared the stage with Bob Dylan, John Prine, Adrian Belew, Squeeze, Ani DiFranco, My Morning Jacket, Hem, and toured as “adjunct” members of Cowboy Junkies. Over the Rhine’s album The Long Surrender was released nationally on February 8, 2011 on OtR’s own Great Speckled Dog label. It was recorded in California with Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry, and contains a duet with Lucinda Williams on “Undamned” and two songs co-written with Joe Henry. They are playing a SOLD OUT show tonight at Eddie’s Attic.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

Karin: It was either Van Halen, Pittsburgh Coliseum, or Captain & Tennille, can’t remember which came first.
Linford: Kansas and Heart, Pittsburgh Coliseum.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

New Zealand International Arts Festival, Wellington, New Zealand; the only place in the world where we played four consecutive sold out shows over four nights, in an old circus tent, next to the water.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

Tom Waits at The Beacon Theatre in NYC on a Saturday night during The Mule Variations Tour.

Gig you would most like to play?

Carnegie Hall with full orchestra.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Opening for Leonard Cohen. (We already got to open for Bob Dylan, so that one has been crossed off…)
