The Skies Revolt self Released “Some Kind of Cosmonaut” In February with their first single “It’s All In The Reflexes” getting picked up by MTV, Much Music and featured on Fuse along with in store networks, international and regional music video shows. The album was included into Pandora Radio while receiving positive reviews from Substream Music Press, Purevolume, HM Magazine, Indievisionmusic.com, had their name dropped by Motion City Soundtrack’s Justin Pierre in Alternative Press and more. The band was also picked up for an Official SXSW Showcase this year.

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

The earliest shows I went to were local punk rock shows in Fairbanks Alaska, where I was introduced to live music. I couldn’t pinpoint the first one because I went to so many, but I remember the first mainstream show I ever went to was seeing Bush on the Razor-blade Suitcase tour. It was and still is to date the loudest show I ever have been to. I remember they brought in semi loads of speakers and literally lined the whole back wall of the stadium from roof to ground. I also remember some girl crying hysterically. I wasn’t sure if it was because it was so loud or she was star struck. I was really young, so who knows.

What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?

There are a couple that come to mind. The most intense though, was a local CD release show we did at Skelletones in Grand Rapids, MI. We had made an EP and were starting to gain some local popularity. The show was in November, but of course we had a blizzard so figured no one was going to show up. The exact opposite happened. The venue was rated for 300 people but we managed to fit in 500 paying people on top of the other locals bands including the now heavily praised La Dispute before they took off and blew up. All in all there was probably about 530 or so people packed into the venue. There was so much condensation on all the pipes in the ceiling that they were dripping everywhere making it feel like an indoor rain shower. What really struck me though, was that the whole room sang along so loudly. I had never been on the receiving end of such a thing. The show was so overflowing that people were standing in window sills and we counted over 30 people on the stage with us because there was no where else to stand.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

One of my favorite shows probably had to do with the band being one of my favorite bands at the time. That was getting to see and play with Against Me!

What is the gig you would most like to play?

I have ever since middle school always wanted to play with The Foofighters.

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

There are too many bands to list so I’ll keep to living ones… I would really like to play a show that would be The Arcade Fire, The Foofighters, At The Drive In and Sigur Ros.

Catch The Skies Revolt., Oct. 31st at The Drunken Unicorn
