I don’t know about you, but I still am not used to the new year.  I’ve written December 2012 on one too many occasions, but hey it’s time to embrace 2013. There are some solid shows coming to town and new albums being released, so lets get out of the house and into venues and record stores! Here are the AMG Weekend Picks for you guys!

Friday, January 11th-Gringo Star w/ Mood Rings & Baby Baby at The EARL
You have to hand it to these Atlanta natives. Gringo Star is one of the best band names I have heard in a while. The indie rockers came out with a new album this past December. Make sure you don’t miss them at The EARL this weekend with Mood Rings & Baby Baby.

Friday, January 11th & Saturday, January 12th-Rebirth Brass Band at Smiths Olde Bar
Pulled straight out of New Orleans, Rebirth Brass Band brings brass music back to its origins. Not only that, they create an even better sound by fusing funk and other modern music trends into the tradtional brass band sound. With two days to see these guys there is no reason not to pack your weekend full.

Choklate’s music will anchor itself down deep into your soul when you see her at Vinyl. She doesn’t just make music that is good to listen to, she makes music that will stay with you for days after you hear her. Writing all her music herself, she takes her deeper voice and blends it perfectly with progressive beats. Don’t miss her at Vinyl.

Saturday, January 12th-Ohmpark Music Festival at The EARL
Ohmpark has been blogging about the Atlanta music scene for six years, and now it is time to celebrate. They are throwing their first music festival at The EARL. It’s a blogger ball! They’ve picked 14 different acts to help in their very first festival.
