Thumpers @ The Drunken Unicorn

Sub Pop is very pleased to welcome UK band THUMPERS to the label, who will release their debut album in North America in 2014. Comprised of long time friends Marcus Pepperell (vocals, guitar, keys) and John Hamson Jr. (drums, vocals, bass), THUMPERS make colourful, exuberant alt-pop that celebrates their innate musical kinship and draws upon their shared childhood memories. The London-based band combine layered androgynous vocals with muscular drums, astral synths and shimmering guitars in a celebration of the breathless sensations of youth and coming of age. Live, they are augmented by an interchanging cast of friends and musicians in faithfully bringing their immersive dynamics and grand scale sonic vision to the stage.

Doors open at 9pm. Tickets are $10.

Pls Pls with von Grey @ The EARL
PLS PLS (pronounced Please Please) was originally started as a moniker for releasing Dixon’s 80’s-tinged dance rock project, which he began conceptualizing as his previous band, Dropsonic, was winding down. The project took shape quickly, and in just a few months later PLS PLS had released EP EP, a five-song collection of heady, electronic-laced future anthems.

Also appearing: Fox Grin. Doors open at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $8.
