AMG Weekend Picks: Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, Flaming Lips, of Montreal, Gruff Rhys and More!

This weekend is going to be epic, y’all. Not only is it the first Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, but there are some very beautiful glittery shows (Flaming Lips, of Montreal), and we also hear there will be bands playing all weekend at the Oakland Cemetery too! You’re spoiled for choice.

Thursday, May 19 – Sunday, May 22 – Atlanta Food & Wine Festival

Come celebrate the wide-scope of Atlanta’s incredible food scene with the first Atlanta Food & Wine Festival! There will be special dinners, tasting tents, incredible demonstrations and loads more. We’re hungry already!

Thursday, May 19 & Friday, May 20 – Flaming Lips at The Tabernacle

Tickets are quickly running out for these two shows, which will see the incredible mind-blowing talents of Wayne Coyne and co. playing their epic Soft Bulletin.

Friday, May 20 – Bob Reynolds at Smith’s Olde Bar

Award-winning saxophonist Bob Reynolds is taking some time away from touring with fellow local lad John Mayer, and is wowing audiences with his mix of funk, rock, soul and jazz.

Get ready for some luscious weird sounds and sights when Athens’ of Montreal pop down to The Buckhead Theatre for a bedazzling show.

Friday, May 20 – Mogwai at Center Stage

Get your mind expanded with the intrepid Scottish post-rock band Mogwai when they finally return to Atlanta for a show at Center Stage.

Sunday, May 22 – Crash Test Dummies at Smith’s Olde Bar

Mmmmmmmm, we’re excited about Crash Test Dummies returning with those deep, smoky vocals.

Sunday, May 22 – Gruff Rhys at The EARL

Eclectic, charming, exciting, addictive, quirky Welsh indie band Super Furry Animals are once again letting their singer Gruff Rhys out into the wilderness on his own, and this time he’s coming to The EARL for a special solo show.
