AMG Weekend Picks: Dean Wareham, The Satorialist, Aziz Ansari, The Whiskey Gentry and More!

Is fall here yet? Almost? Well, at least we have some slightly cooler weather so we can chill out with King of Pops and others at the East Atlanta Strut on Saturday. And there is still plenty of indoor entertainment to rock out to in air conditioned heaven – comedy, rock ‘n’ roll, killer dance tracks, we have it all for you right here. And of course a couple of great on-sales too.

Thursday, September 16 and Friday, September 17 – Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 at The EARL

Dean Wareham will be celebrating the re-release of Galaxie 500’s awesome three albums by playing music from the famed dream pop band on both Thursday and Friday night. Wareham will be joined by his lovely wife Britta Phillips (of Atlanta’s Ultrababyfat), drummer Anthony LaMarca and keyboard player Matt Sumrow. Friday is sold out, but you can still get tickets for Thursday if you’re fast!

Friday, September 17 – The Slow Roast at Graveyard Tavern

Fab dance label Slow Roast will be bringing Klever, Craze, Kill The Noize, 12th Planet and Rob Wonder to the Graveyard in East Atlanta for a great showcase destined to make you shake your booty.

Friday, September 17 – The Satorialist at Hagedorn Foundation Gallery

For fashion-lovers, few come close to finding the most stylish fashionistas on the streets than photographer and blogger extraordinaire The Satorialist. He will be attending the opening of his exhibition at the Hagedorn Foundation Gallery in Buckhead on Friday night. It’s free and everyone is invited! Just be sure to dress your best.

Friday, September 17, Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19 – Rain: A Tribute To The Beatles at The Fox Theatre

One of the greatest tributes to The Beatles, Rain will be coming to the Fox for a trio of incredible shows that will be a must for Beatles fans.

Seriously one of the funniest men in the country – nay, the world! – right now, Aziz Ansari is going to have you reaffirming your faith in stand up comedy when the “Parks and Recreation” star takes the stage on Saturday.

Saturday, September 18 – East Atlanta Strut at East Atlanta Village

Great local music (Lloyd’s Rocksteady Revue, Georgia Fireflies, Grinder Nova and more), East Atlanta food, a 5K run, cool artists – there are so many reasons to go chill out at the annual East Atlanta Strut. Oh and it’s free!

Sunday, September 19 – The Whiskey Gentry at Park Tavern

Also in great free gigs this weekend, The Whiskey Gentry will be playing their brand of kick-ass country rock at the Park Tavern for 99X’s Unplugged in the Park. What a way to wind down your weekend.
