AMG Weekend Picks: Fitz and the Tantrums, Wanda Jackson, British Sea Power and More!

Wow. What a weekend! Not only do we have the Atlanta Mess-Around at The EARL, but we also have some great free events too: Dogwood Festival, Foursquare Day, and the almighty Record Store Day! And then there is a major on sale going on for a couple of great reunited southern indie rock bands, so check the bottom of the post for that.

Thursday, April 14 – Fitz and the Tantrums at The Loft

With their infectious mix of ’80s pop, funk, indie rock and soul, Fitz and the Tantrum have been storming dance floors across the nation. And now they’ve sold out The Loft. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets, be sure to shake your ass for us.

It’ll be a great night of sweet alt-country from the amazing Jason Isbell, who will be joined by Maria Taylor of Azure Ray at The EARL tonight.

Friday, April 15 – Sunday, April 17 – Atlanta Mess-Around at The EARL

Douchemaster, Rob’s House and Triple Ds’ rowdy Atlanta Mess-Around weekend is back, and this year they’ll have the likes of Oblivians, TESTORS featuring Sonny Vincent and a special dunch with Gentleman Jesse.

Friday, April 15 – Wanda Jackson at The Loft

Rock ‘n’ roll legend Wanda Jackson, AKA The Queen of Rockabilly, is back with an amazing album made with Jack White at the helm. Catch the amazing rocker at The Loft with Anna Kramer & The Lost Cause.

Friday, April 15 – The Raveonettes at Masquerade

Uber-cool danish garage rock duo The Raveonettes come back to the states and play a killer show at Masquerade.

Friday, April 15 – Adron, Little Tybee at Star Bar

The charming bird-voiced Adron will be joined by indie folk multi-instrumentalists Little Tybee at Star Bar on Friday.

Saturday, April 16 – Old School Saturday at AmericasMart

Atlanta’s favorite monthly dance night Old School Saturday returns with more excellent ’80s and ’90s hip-hop and R&B hits for you to shake your well-clad ass to.

Sunday, April 17 – British Sea Power at The EARL

Sharp, catchy British rockers British Sea Power bring the guitars to Atlanta’s The EARL for a great Sunday show.
