AMG Weekend Picks: Little 5 Fest, CounterPoint, The Urban Hoedown, Animal Collective and More!

The weekend is almost here and we’re happily immersed in Fall Festival Season! From the Urban Hoedown, to CounterPoint, and Little Five Fest, we are beyond excited to check out all of the awesome bands and genres this weekend! The venues are also packed with great artists too, so no excuses! Get out and enjoy this amazing weather and our great music scene.

Thursday, September 27- Friday September 29- CounterPoint Festival

3 Full Days of Electronic Dance Music (plus some rap and rock) just outside of Atlanta! The lineup includes M83, AVICII, Reptar, Big Boi, Skrillex, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, and tons more!

Friday, September 28- The Urban Hoedown at Riverview Landing in Mableton

Featuring The Constellations with Special Guests Turf War and Sealions. There will also be food trucks, hot air balloon rides, and a corn maze.

Friday, September 28- Green River Ordinance w/ Nathan Angelo< at Vinyl

5 guys from Texas that travel the country in their white van “Lambchop”. I like them already!

Friday, September 28- Insane Jane w/ Os Ossos at The Earl

Legendary Atlanta band Insane Jane will be reuniting for one show only for a benefit for Sylvia Cross.

Friday, September 28- An Evening With: AG, Garrison Starr & Maia Sharp at Eddie’s Attic

A supergroup of female singer/songwriters.

Friday, September 28 & Saturday, September 29th- Soul Rebels at Smith’s Olde Bar

Their weekly show at Uptown New Orleans spot Le Bon Temps Roulé has been known to descend into a sweaty shout‐along as the band mixes up songs from its five studio albums with hits by Jay‐Z and OutKast.

Friday, September 28- OFF! w/ Negative Approach at The Loft

They are the force and spirit of L.A. punk circa ’78 resuscitated, reconstituted and re-imagined for a similarly uncertain age.

Friday, September 28- Best Brothers Band w/ Cody Marlowe & The Dead Flowers at Peachtree Tavern

BBB has headlined nearly sold out rooms across Georgia and has opened for the likes of Marc Broussard, Bob Schneider, World Classic Rockers (former members of Steppenwolf, Journey, Lynard Skynyrd, Santana, Boston and Toto), Rusted Roots, Georgia Satellites, Nic Cowan, Elizabeth & The Catapult, Dread Clampitt and Company of Thieves..

Saturday, September 29- Little 5 Fest at Various Venues in Little 5 Points

Featuring Reptar, Ponderosa, Noot d’Noot, Distal, Gringo Star, Fiend Without a Face (Brent Hinds of Mastodon), the Coathangers, Jackie Chain, Smithsonian(The Smiths cover band) and dozens more bands, rappers, and DJs play full bore from 1 p.m. till last call. The 7 Stages Theatre also plans a special festival-day matinee production of “Dracula: The Rock Opera” and offers exclusive admission to Little Five Fest pass-holders.

Saturday, September 29- An Evening with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood at Center Stage

In 2011, after more than 20 years of intense gigging and recording, Chris Robinson set off to shape something new, a fresh rock mythology, a breathing kaleidoscopic thing stuffed with chooglin’ soul, bedrock boogie and shuffling wisdom birthed in intimate clubs and amongst the tall trees of the Golden State and eventually taken nationwide as the Chris Robinson Brotherhood evolved..

The Soft Pack are a group of Southern Californian gentlemen looking to make a racket that lies somewhere in-between post-punk and post-Warren Zevon.
