AMG Weekend Picks: Widespread Panic, Snowden, Aimee Mann, Pavement and More!

Finally fall has arrived! Well, alright, only officially. It’s still baking hot. But this weekend should be more bearable, and what better way to celebrate the removal of the horrific heat than outdoor concerts, arts and food festivals, and a couple of indoor gigs too. And there are quite a few great on-sales coming up as well.

Thursday, September 23 – Widespread Panic Meet & Greet at Vinyl

One of the biggest jam bands are in town for a jammy extravaganza of a weekend. First up, Widespread Panic play a special sold-out charity gig at Center Stage, right after an also very-sold-out Meet & Greet at Vinyl. And then they will be playing two shows on Friday and Saturday at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. Phew. Hippies and bros everywhere rejoice!

Friday, September 24 – The Rat Pack Is Back at The Frederick Brown Jr., Amphitheatre

Here’s one for your dad’s, or even for you old-school lovers of charm and Vegas style. Famous tribute act The Rat Pack Is Back bring you the best of Sammy, Frank and the rest of the gang, complete with a 12-piece big band.

Saturday, September 25 – Snowden at The EARL

Atlanta’s Snowden have been slightly quieter lately, with leader Jordan Jeffares off in New York now. But they’re back together for a show in Atlanta at their beloved EARL on Saturday night.

Saturday, September 25 – Aimee Mann at Variety Playhouse

The lovely Aimee Mann might flash a smile if we’re lucky, but she’ll still charm us with her moody and poignant tunes. She’ll be joined by Elizabeth and the Catapult, who we also adore.

Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26 – Plates on Peachtree at the Midtown Festival of the Arts

With fall finally arriving, food and drink festivals are about to be in full swing. The new Midtown Festival of the Arts will be taking place this Saturday and Sunday, and with it comes Plates on Peachtree, a tasting smorgasbord with treats from Shaun’s, Tap, Bakeshop, Bacchanalia and more. The festival is free but the Plates event will cost you – but it’ll be worth it, and your tummy will thank you.

Sunday, September 26 – Pavement at The Tabernacle

Indie boys and girls across the nation have been getting giddy for the reunion shows of their heroes Pavement. And now it’s Atlanta’s turn – Pavement takes over The Tabernacle on Sunday night. What a way to wrap up the weekend!
