 If you haven't heard of Second Shift yet, then shame on you for calling yourself a local music fan. These five guys have quickly climbed to the top of Atlanta's rock scene and have garnered a good deal of attention from scoring an opening slot for Jet and The Vines , playing a sold out showcase at the Atlantis Music Conference, and having the band's energetic and Mick Jagger-esque frontman Jonathan Baker be 'kidnapped' by Courtney Love at this year's Music Midtown. With the recent addition of the Atlanta Music Guide Music Awards' "Best Band" category, Second Shift is proving that they are making themselves heard and noticed.
Second Shift's delivers songs begging for airplay - their music, much like their live show appears drenched in caffeine and urgency, yet laced with the perfect amount of swagger and wit. The chugging, fast-paced rhythmic guitar riff of the band's most popular song "Bethany " showcases the band's ability to create a pop song that rocks and is catchy as hell without seeming cheesy. Give it a spin on the band's Myspace player, and you'll see that it's impossible not to rock along with it.
