It seems that the brothers Steadlur have taken Atlanta's music scene by storm.
Having formed in 2003, Steadlur has already gained an impressive fanbase in the city, packing out venues all over Atlanta from Smith's Olde Bar to 10 High, MJQ, and even 2004's Music Midtown Locals Only stage.
Steadlur combines influences from the days of straight up, no bullshit rock n roll when bands like KISS and AC/DC ruled the airwaves, yet giving a nod to synthsters such as Duran Duran and Depeche Mode, along with 80's pop rock greats such as Elvis Costello and Cheap Trick.
The result is Steadlur's own unabashed blend of intense, high-powered rock with a strong melodic pop sensibility. Fans of Warped Tour bands like Taking Back Sunday, Alkaline Trio, Head Automatica, etc. will appreciate the band's impassioned lyrics and lead singer/guitarist Philip Steadlur's urgent vocals, while the hipsters will enjoy the band's synth-tinged songs like "The Right Way Home."
Steadlur's current EP, 7 Minutes in the Life...It's Steadlur, was co-produced, mixed, and engineered by guitarist/background vocalist and Atlanta scene veteran Jade Steadlur. Brothers Daniel and Dallas Steadlur round out the band's lineup, playing bass and drums. 7 Minutes in the Life... showcases 3 of the band's songs, with the standout track being "Broken Heart Addiction ," a mid-tempo, emotionally powerful track that showcases all of Steadlur's best elements.
As the band says in their song "When History Repeats ," "The future's now...The time has come..." And the time has come for the Steadlur brothers to step in the spotlight.
Steadlur will be playing the BMI See It Hear First Rock Showcase at February 3rd at Smith's Olde Bar. For more information, visit http://bmi.com/showcases/200501/at_first.asp. Check out the Atlanta Music Guide Myspace Player to hear the band's track "Broken Heart Addiction." |
