When AMG first saw The Modern Society at one of The Devil Stole the Beat showcases in Summer 2005, it was hard to believe that it was only the band's third show. Their engaging, highly energetic live show and pop sensible songs won over the crowd of both hipsters and industry people.
The buzz quickly followed this four piece, earning them nominations in the "99X Best New Band" and "People's Choice" award categories at the 2005 Atlanta Music Guide awards. The Modern Society headed into the studio soon after to record their full length debut, Friends and Enemies , with former Tender Idols guitarist Danny Howes. The CD features the engaging opener "Almanac" and the catchy "Tokyo", which has received spins on 99X's Sunday School.
The Modern Society will be playing the BMI Showcase at Smith's Olde Bar with Tim Brantley, Clarissa Rivera, and Zac Brown on February 16th. Doors are at 8pm. |
