 THE LAZARUS COMPILATION is a cd featuring local bands helping to raise money for the homeless in Atlanta. The CD release party takes place on Tuesday April 11th at Smiths Olde Bar .  A new venue, The Mercury Club, located in Underground Atlanta, opens for a private party March 9th with a special performance by Sam Thacker. The brand new venue holds about 525 people. They boast a "gritty yet upscale décor, a proscenium stage, standing room or seated show set ups, and a balcony with a prime view of the stage." Rock Star Atlanta Casting Call - The CBS series Rock Star is returning for its second season after the success of Rock Star: INXS. Now, an all-star rock 'n roll supergroup is searching for its lead singer, and Mark Burnett Productions are coming to the Velvet Underground at the Hard Rock Cafe (215 Peachtree Street) on March 6th to find potential rock stars in Atlanta! Open casting calls will take place from 10am - 4pm. Producers are looking for men and women ages 21 and up, and candidates are expected to sing 3 songs to a track or with one musical instrument. The A3C independent hip hop music festival has returned to The Loft for its second year. The festival, hosted by local indie hip hop label ArcTheFinger Records, features some of the country's top emerging independent hip hop artists. Last year's A3C featured surprise appearances from members of Jurassic 5 and Public Enemy , and this year, the festival will take place from March 30 to April 1.
