MJQ Concourse

MJQ Concourse
Ponce De Leon Place
Atlanta, GA.

MJQ began as a tiny little club beneath the Ponce De Leon Hotel around 1993. It was a cool hang out place. Locals didn't get charged. Wanna-be's did. Bands like Blur would hang here after a show at the old Cotton Club on Peachtree.

MJQ moved a couple of yers later to its current location at the corner of Ponce De Leon Ave and Ponce De Leon Place. Still unmarked, the upstairs tardis-like entrance leads to a dark and moody venue below. The neon light around the bar, barely lights the place. We've all gone home with something a little rougher than we'd like at some point or another. There's a small dance floor at one end and even though it's mainly a DJ club bands play here from time to time. There's another room towards the back with a bar that now joins MJQ to the Drunken Unicorn.
