Bits and Bobs: Andre Williams, East Atlanta Strut, Massive Attack, N.E.R.D.

– The legend that is Andre Williams, writer for stars like Stevie Wonder and Parliament Funkadelic, will be playing Star Bar with The Subsonics and The Mission Creeps tonight, Friday, September 10. You want to “Shake A Tail Feather” tonight? Well, you’re in luck, because this man wrote the song.

– Next weekend is the East Atlanta Strut, taking place Saturday, September 18. There will be music from the likes of Lloyd’s Rocksteady Revue, Georgia Fireflies, Grinder Nova and others, and booths from Taj Ma Hound, Sun In My Belly and more. And of course food from all the great locals. Some folks will even be actually strutting on the 5K. It’s just a great day for all.

Massive Attack, who will be playing the Fox Theatre with Thievery Corporation on October 29, are releasing an EP to benefit the awesome charity War Child. The 12-inch vinyl, which will feature a song with Elbow’s Guy Garvey and some remixes, will be released on November 1. More details are over on Paste.

– Though they haven’t announced an Atlanta date yet, we thought you should still know that N.E.R.D. will be opening for Gorillaz on their huge upcoming tour, which stops at Fairfax, Va., but not Atlanta. Sigh. The tour’s dates and details are over on Consequence of Sound.
