Bits and Bobs: Sufjan Stevens, MGMT, Other Sound, The Charlatans

Sufjan Stevens is getting ready to drop his eagerly-awaited record The Age of Adz on October 12. He’s given fans a little treat to whet their appetite – you can stream “I Walked” over on Sufjan’s Bandcamp page or Pitchfork now. He’ll be playing The Tabernacle on November 6.

MGMT have revealed the video for new single “Congratulations.” Naturally it’s a bit weird, featuring the two lads wandering the desert with some odd Jim Henson-esque creature to seems to be falling apart a bit. Check it out here.

Other Sound Festival will be rocking Little Five Points at Star Bar, Criminal Records, Five Spot and Java Lords on October 2. Ohmpark has the schedule, which includes Little Tybee, Weapons of Audio, Oryx and Crake, A Fight to the Death, Mermaids and Falcon Lords. Phew.

The Charlatans seem to be making a triumphant comeback with this new record, going back to the roots that made they the Britpop legends that they are. The band’s video for “Love Is Ending” continues in the old school vibe, with the band just mop-topped shadows in the background, while a ballet dancer clothed in red flies around the stage. And just to add to the classicness of it, the video was created by The Jesus & Mary Chain’s Douglas Hart. Classic. Check it out over on NME. And don’t forget to buy your tickets for The Charlatans’ Atlanta gig at The Loft on September 7.
