New Beer Festival Coming to Atlanta on February 27!

January 15, 2010 Festivals No Comments

WinterBeerCarnivalLogo
Atlanta loves beer. So it goes without saying that we would be very happy with a beer festival, especially in the quiet, desolate month of February (not to mention the fact that the Decatur Beer Festival is all the way in October). Which makes this news of a new beer festival, the Winter Beer Carnival on February 27 at 3 p.m., all the more wonderful.

The festival will take place at The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center in the uber-cool Westside Arts District, and will feature more that 60 beers for sampling, carnival games, food, DJs and other entertainment to keep you occupied while you taste away. Normal tickets get you unlimited sampling and five carnival tickets, while VIP tickets get you into the event an hour early to sample a premium selection of top, rare beers, plus 10 carnival tickets.

Tickets will go on sale next Friday, January 22 at Ticket Alternative.

The Big Rock Out to Pay Tribute to Slain Olympic Boxer Vernon Forrest

September 17, 2009 Festivals, Gigs No Comments
CowboyMouth The Big Rock Out, for those who don’t know, is a Vegas-style night of pure entertainment coming to Atlanta on September 19. There will be music from awesome rockers Cowboy Mouth as well as local lads Holdcell, and boxing matches between “Pretty Boy” Michael Jean Louis and Anthony “Ice” Greenridge. Sounds pretty exciting – and yet there’s even more to the event.

A portion of the proceeds are going towards the Vernon Forrest family and charity as well as the charity Destiny’s Child. Many have already heard about Vernon Forrest, the world champion boxer who was killed in a failed robbery attempt not too long ago. There will also be a tribute and a silent auction featuring a painting of Forrest by local artist Steve Penley. Destiny’s Child is a charity that provides services and trains people with developmental, emotional, psychological
disabilities and needs, so that they may live as independently as possible in
the least restrictive environment to meet their needs.
