Q & A with Alex Dezen of The Damnwells; Playing @ Eddie’s Attic, 2/12

alexdezenAlex Dezen of The Damnwells plays an intimate solo performance on Wednesday, February 12 at Eddie’s Attic! We got the opportunity to chat with the man himself before his show at Atlanta’s favorite listening room.

What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you at a show?

Bring cookies. And insist we eat them in front of her. There’s probably been weirder things, but that one was particularly weird.

What is the funniest moment you have had as an artist?

Watching Ted fall off the stage at a boarding school.

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

I like to take everything out of my pockets.

If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?

Music.

How do you connect with a crowd?

I play songs and maybe tell a joke.

How did you decide on your band name?

Drummer is a West Virginia boy. We made fun of him. He came up with the name. Like “You better damn well get on your horse and ride!” type thing.

What is the best way to write music?

With an instrument and some words and a melody. Booze is optional.
