We caught up with Annie before her exciting show at Eddie’s Attic on Saturday, July 6! See what she shared with us!

What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you or at your show?

A fan in Japan lifted up his shirt and asked me to sign his chest. Then he went around lifting up his shirt for everyone all night long.

What is the funniest moment you have had as an artist?

Someone in the audience asked “if they were real” referring to my dreadlocks and I thought he meant my boobs, so I took it in the wrong direction on the microphone, to finally apologize to my grandmother who squirmed in the audience.

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

God, remove my fear of what people think and direct my attention toward how you would have me sing.

If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?

Communication

How do you connect with a crowd?

As well as the best people I’ve ever seen. That’s my gift. I acknowledge the audience and show them with body and expressions as well as the music what the songs mean to me. I put as much of myself into it as I can and take the room on my journey. It’s my party! How fun is that…gigging…wow.

What is the best way to write music?

For me, when an idea is inspired. But then I have to sit down and give it the space and the time to let it become…flesh it out.
