EMI recording artist Angie Aparo is the songwriting talent behind such big hits as Faith Hill’s “Cry”. A highly respected and accomplished singer and performer himself, Angie has appeared on stage and recordings with Tim McGraw, Edwin McCain, Matchbox 20 and Faith Hill to name but a few. We took the time to ask the Atlanta-based singer/songwriter a few questions. Here’s what he had to say!

What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you? Or at your show?
“I think I signed someone’s tongue.”

What is the funniest moment you have had as an artist so far?
“The local radio DJ, after throwing out a few t-shirts to an excited crowd, gave us a grand introduction. I walked on stage and was attempting to take my guitar out of its case only to find that the lock on the case was stuck. It was broken. It was the most anti-climactic, wonderful comedy of errors ever! Me and a few of my band mates, on the stage, prying the case open with a screw driver while the crowd tried their hardest to remain enthused. The case paid dearly for its disobedience.”

Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Crown Royal and a friend.”

If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?
“Selfish”.

How do you connect with a crowd?
“Breakdown the barrier (the stage) by destroying the idea that we are separate entities (the crowd and myself), usually with humor.”

What artist would you love to collaborate with?
“David Bowie”.

What is the best way to write music?
“Writing music (for me) isn’t really about writing music. It’s about creating a space large enough for ideas to roam. It’s about creating a space free enough for ideas to wander.”

Make sure you check out Angie Aparo playing at Eddie’s Attic this Friday, March 15th!
