Interview with The Baron Sisters; Playing @ Eddie’s Attic- BMI’s Girls Night Out- TONIGHT!

The Baron SistersKimmy and Kelsie Baron (aka The Baron Sisters) are a sibling duo from South Florida that have mastered the ability to create the organic sound of innocence and youth through the eyes of old souls.

The girls have been singing together ever since they can remember. With a natural talent for writing catchy melodies, and the ability to engage their audiences with honest, relatable songs, this charming duo delivers sincere songs with distinctive instrumentation and remarkable harmonies.

The Baron Sisters are currently on tour promoting their full length CD, “Positive Thinker” which was released in October 2012. We caught up with Kimmy and Kelsie before their show tonight! Here’s what the talented duo had to say!

What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you?

“Kimmy forgot to bring tampons and a lady at our show who we just met ran out and got some for her. That was actually very nice of her but probably the most random first encounter with a new fan.”

What is the funniest moment you have had as an band so far?

“Honestly, every show we do has some random funny moment. That’s what we like most about playing out, interacting with the crowd in fun ways even if it’s embarrassing.”

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

“We blast 90s hip hop in the car if we can before every gig.”

If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?

“Scrumtralesant.”

How do you connect with a crowd?

“Through humor and honest stories during our shows. Our music isn’t the kind where we can head bang along to it or crowd surf, so we do what we were most comfortable with and try to make the crowd smile and laugh.”

How did you come up with your band name?

“We spent years trying to come up with the coolest most unusual name we could think of. After a while, nothing sounded good to us. So we decided to go with the most obvious description of what we are. The Baron Sisters.”

What is the best way to write music?

“Whenever a idea hits you for a song you shouldn’t ignore it. You should write it down right away. That’s the best way we know. We never force a song if we’re not feeling it. To us, songs are nothing without putting some well thought and emotion into the music and lyrics.”

Make sure to catch The Baron Sisters tonight at Eddie’s Attic for BMI’s Girls Night Out along with Bonnie Bishop and Nik & Sam!
