It’s Been a Year – The Georgia Theatre is Ready for Restoration

It’s been a year since flames gutted Athens, Ga. legendary 120-year-old venue, the Georgia Theater. Since then supporters, bands and businesses have donated enough funds to finally get started on renovating the building that sits graciously on the corner of Clayton and Lumpkin.

As an acknowledgment of the one year anniversary of the fire – and in continued efforts to raise more funds for the building’s restoration – several special items will be auctioned off online at GeorgiaTheatre.com. Salvaged treasures such as smoke damaged posters and marquee letters, as well as items given by artists like a signed pair of Darius Rucker’s boots and Widespread Panic’s original master tape of their first demo will be included in the auction.

More items will be added to the auction in the coming weeks, please visit GeorgiaTheatre.com for more information.
