Live Music for Tuesday May 20th

Little Hurricane w/ Lincoln Durham @ The EARL

Formed in 2010 and fast recognized as a killer live act, Little Hurricane devoted two years to the creation of their latest album Gold Fever. “Homewrecker was recorded literally while touring, in kitchens and living rooms all over the place, so for this one we wanted to take more time and see what happened,” says C.C. While the album has a heart-on-sleeve honesty that’s deeply intimate, Gold Fever also delivers a slew of songs huge in sound and scope. “Playing big festivals over the past couple years and getting on those bigger stages motivated us to write bigger songs,” she points out. Little Hurricane builds off their dirty-blues dynamic for nearly every track on Gold Fever, but infuses each song with unexpected and inspired touches.

Tickets are $12. Doors open at 8:30pm. Online and phone sales end at 6pm.

OK Productions Presents: Ben Trickey and Kenny Howes @ Eddie’s Attic

The plight of the stark, lo-fi troubadour is not an easy one. In a post-Bright Eyes, post-Mountain Goats world, indie rock has seen just about every riveting trick one lonely man with a guitar can get away with–as well as the ones he can’t. But when Ben Trickey strums and sings about the dark, emotional side of life as an imperfect man, you believe him. The characters and narratives in his songs resonate with somber timelessness, scorched tones and dirty production qualities that add depth to his frail and frazzle arrangements.

Tickets are $12 at the door. Table seats are $10 and must be purchased in multiples of 4. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Online and phone sales close at 5pm.

Moving Units w/ Softspot @ 529

The club lights are low. The dance floor is a sweaty blur of shadows. You can feel the blood and adrenaline surging through the crowd. There’s a band on-stage and they are telepathically connected to the audience—making bodies bounce like it was a feat of mind control. This is Moving Units and this is their natural element: unadulterated grooves and constant motion.

Tickets are $10. Doors open at 9pm. Online, phone and outlet sales close at 6pm. This show is 21+.
