Music Man: Hidden Gem

This city never ceases to amaze me. When it comes to music, Atlanta seems to turn out more good music lately, then any other city. Just when I think the well is dry, someone pops their creative head above the sand and screams "listen to me, I’m good", and lately they’ve been right. I already went on about some of the bands I saw at Atlantis this year, so I wont belabor that point, but since then I came across an Atlanta transplant that seriously has me transfixed. I know almost nothing about her other then her music is fresh sounding, but oddly familiar. For fans of Feist, Zero 7, and/or Portishead, you should do your ears a favor and check out Jessica Tonder. Thanks to my friend Luis Sandoval (no relation to Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval–I don’t think, hey wait a minute…) who told me about her, I haven’t stopped listening to the few songs that are currently available. I’m not sure when more info about Atlanta’s mystery will unfold (hence the brevity of this blog), but when it does I can assure you I’ll be shouting about it.
