    Must see: Known for his intense flow and sharp wit, Sage Francis has won acclaim as both a freestyle battler and as an unapologetic, intellectual lyricist.

  2. Iron & Wine and Ben Bridwell @ The Tabernacle, Mon. Jul. 20
    Genre: Folk, Indie, Acoustic
    Must see: Sam Beam, also known as Iron & Wine, is one of those eclectic composers who creates music that is both soothing and energizing at the same time.

  3. Lower Dens @ The EARL, Tues. Aug. 4
    Genre: Shoegaze, Post-punk, Indie
    Must see: Lower Dens is one of those bands that makes you feel like you’re living in an 80s movie when you listen to it, but in like, the best way possible. At the same time, their sound is an incredibly refreshing one to the indie music scene.

  4. My Morning Jacket @ The Fox, Fri. Aug. 8 & Sat. Aug. 8
    Genre: Indie Rock, Alt-Country, Rock
    Must see: My Morning Jacket is one of those bucket-list-worthy bands that any music lover should see live. Even if you’re not a fan of their music (although I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be), Jim James is one of the more enthusiastic performers I’ve ever seen.

    Genre: Rock, Blues, Americana
    Must see: See two blues legends for the price of one on the Great Lawn of the Atlanta Botanical Garden!

  6. Alabama Shakes @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Fri. Aug. 21
    Genre: Blues, Soul, Southern Rock
    Must see: Following the release of their new album, Sound & Color, arguably one of the best new albums of this year, we can’t wait to see what the amazing Brittany Howard and the rest of the gang have in store for their live show.

  7. Earl Sweatshirt @ The Masquerade (Heaven), Sun. Aug. 30
    Genre: Hip-Hop, Rap, Underground Hip-Hop
    Must see: This 21-year-old rapper and member of the LA hip hop collective Odd Future. At 16-years-old, he released his first mixtape, Earl, online for free in 2010 to much critical acclaim.

  8. Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers @ Terminal West, Thurs. Sept. 3
    Genre: Soul, Roots Rock, Folk
    Must see: The San-Francisco-based band features Nicki Bluhm on lead vocals, and what vocals does she have. The band offers a refreshing sound, spirited stage show and an overflow of good vibes.
