Their self-titled debut was released on Fortuna Pop in June 2010 to widespread critical acclaim. Their second album, Europe, was Rough Trade’s best-selling record of 2012 and was highly placed in many best of the year polls, including Rolling Stone, Emusic and Rough Trade. Bass Drum Of Death – Rip This (Innovative Leisure)

Bass Drum Of Death

The latest album of Mississippi rock duo Bass Drum Of Death, Rip This, marks the next logical step in the band’s evolution into populist rock anthems. With the ability to transform rooms full of normally too-cool-to-rock indie crowds into a mob of sweaty, stage-diving maniacs, we are excited to see what this new album will bring to their live performance.

Bass Drum Of Death will be at 529 on Monday, Oct. 13. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 9pm.

Flying Lotus, aka Steven Ellison, has an interesting musical background. He has musicians and songwriters for grandparents, aunts and cousins, and his previous job was as the beat-maker for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim network. “His fifth album, You’re Dead!, has the stated theme of the one thing every single human has in common, and just about every conceivable style of music is prone to address: the inevitability and condition of death, and how mysterious it really is.” – Pitchfork

Wampire – Bazaar (Polyvinyl Records)

Wampire

Following the release of their debut album Curiosity in 2013, Wampire went from a duo most accustomed to playing house parties around their hometown of Portland to a five-piece band performing in venues all over the world with groups such as Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Foxygen, and Smith Westerns. That 12-month span saw Wampire play more shows in more cities, countries, and continents than in all their previous years together combined — a nearly non-stop barrage of new and memorable experiences that, above all else, forced the band members to become more fully immersed in music than at any other time in their lives. After a year of touring all over the world, Wampire has emerged with what is undeniably their best batch of songs to date. Buy their new album now on Wampire’s website.

Catch Wampire live at 529 on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 9pm.
