Who
loves you?
Somebody once said "It's
better to give than to receive." So with that in mind, here it
is...the latest AMG newsletter.
We
kicked things off yesterday with a little giveaway on Myspace.com.
Heather Nelson won 2 tickets to see Fatboy Slim at Eleven50 last
night. AMG was there too, and Mr. Slim did not disappoint. Armed
with boxes of top tunes, video cameras, 3 video screens loaded with
wicked visuals and one big grin, Norman Cook rocked a loyal 800+ crowd
'til the early hours. We told you this show would be good.. and it
was!
Next up, Mr. Cope. All the cool kids will be at the Citizen Cope show tonight at
the Loft. The show is nearly sold out, but we managed to steal a pair
of tickets off the desk of our friends at Rival
Entertainment when they weren't looking and we're giving them away. It's an 18+
show, so just email us with
your best sob story telling us why you deserve
these tickets, and we'll pick a winner out of our inbox. Everyone
else can click www.ticketalternative.com
to pick up a ticket.
By
the way, we also had a rummage around while we were there and found an offer
sheet confirming a Modest Mouse show at the Fox Theatre in June....
but we didn't tell you that....shhhhhh.
Thirdly,
it looks like we're spending the next couple days at The Roxy. British
hopefuls Long-View will open up for the French band Phoenix and
Scotland's Dogs Die In Hot Cars Thursday night at The Roxy. We've been
listening to this band for a while, and if you check
out their media player, you'll hear the song "Further" and know what we
mean!
Fourthly, It's been a while since any local band made any real
significant impact on our fair city. All this will change on Friday
night when not one, but four great local bands take to the stage at The
Roxy. Y-O-U, Second
Shift, The Whigs (ok,
they're from Athens, but their manager Josh "Goldilocks"
Rifkind is from here, so they're 1/2 Atlantan..) and
Red Letter Agent have all been creating their own individual hum for a
while. This buzz will explode on Friday when the 4 get together for a
fantastic show. Red
Letter Agent gave us 10 copies of their EP Burn The Good Ones
Down,
but we sold 5 to Criminal Records
for beer money, so now we've got 5 copies to
giveaway. To win, you must be going to the show. Be one of the first 5
people to print this email out and present it at their merch table
inside The Roxy to get a copy of the EP. The EP is in all good record
stores around town. PS.. don't buy your tickets from
Ticketmaster. They're charging a $7.75 service charge on 2 tickets.
Contact the bands directly or wait and buy at the door.
Lastly...are you still with
us?!? We've got a pair of tickets to give away for
Monday's Radio 4 show at the
Earl. We've caught this band twice recently - first opening for the Libertines at the Echo
Lounge and then in
New York opening for former Stone Roses front man Ian Brown. The band's
current CD Stealing of A Nation is out now on Astralwerks
Records (we
like them) and is definitely worth picking up. To win these tickets,
just email us the name of one of the opening bands for this show, and
we'll draw a winner Monday morning. (please include your name and phone
number)
