The 2005 Atlanta Music Guide Awards
In less than a week over 2000 vote have been cast for this year's Atlanta Music Guide Awards. This year's award show will be even bigger and better. We're proud to introduce the first of this year's sponsors, Turner South and 99X.

The brand new Turner South presents the My South Rocks Best Live Venue Award will highlight the best live music venue in Atlanta. This year's competition was narrowed down to the top 9 venues during the first round of voting. The nominations are The Loft, The Velvet Underground, The Star Bar, The Roxy, The Tabernacle, The Drunken Unicorn, Smiths Olde Bar, The EARL and the 10 High.

We'd also like to announce the addition of the 99X Best New Band Award. Another popular category, the 99X Best New Band Award will be presented by the station to the best new band in Atlanta i.e. a new band that's exploded on to the scene in the past few months.

This years awards will also feature the first ever People's Choice Award. This is your chance to vote for your favourite band or artist. Each online vote placed before noon on 9/16 will count as one vote, BUT each vote cast at the awards show counts as 10!! This means that any band that brings a good number of people to the awards show, September 17th at The Loft, has a good chance to swing the vote.

Listen Up! - A very limited number of tickets for the awards show will go on sale at 10am on Wednesday morning to the general public via Ticket Alternative. This years presenters include Jay Harren (99X), English Nick (96 Rock), Tony Ware (Creative Loafing) and many more to be announced. Don't miss your chance to attend Atlanta's own VMA'S!
