GIVEAWAY
- Decatur based Paste Magazine is
holding the first ever Paste
Rock 'n Reel Festival October 22nd - 23rd, 2005 at
East Decatur Station. The weekend festival will feature two
stages of music from over local and national acts, over 50
short films, two feature films, theatrical performances by
the Push Push Theater, a presentation from the
creators of HomestarRunner.com, and the photography
exhibit "Kids With Cameras," which features
photographs taken by children living in the brothels of
Calcutta. The festival will feature artists like Low
(in one of only 2 performances this year), Cary Brothers
(whose track "Blue Eyes" is on the Garden State
soundtrack), Mark Olson of the Jayhawks, Elf
Power, and locals like Red Letter Agent, The
Whigs, A Fir-Ju Well, Modern Skirts, Taylor
Hollingsworth, and Anthony David. AMG has a pair
of weekend passes to give away, so if you're interested in

VICE
Records' noise rock duo Death From Above 1979 will be
doing a DJ set and signing at Criminal Records on
Friday October 28th at 6:00pm. The band will be opening up
for Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age the
night before at Philips Arena. Their newest release, Romance

The Other Sound Festival
- October 13th - 15th,
2005
The Other Sound - Atlanta's First Indie Label Fest will
hit the city this week from October 13th - 15th, taking over
venues such as 10 High, The EARL, and Lenny's. Check out
local acts like The Heart Attacks, The Orphins, The Tom
Collins, Snowden, The Close, Psychic Hearts, The Black Lips,
and many more, along with literary readings and short films.
The festival will hold a pre-party over at Smith's Olde Bar

Second
Shift (CD Release) - The Loft - All Ages - October 15th, 2005
The
locals in Second Shift will be releasing their debut CD Boozed
and Bruised at The Loft this Saturday. Tickets are only
$5.00 (but you can win them from AMG on our Giveaways
page), and the show will feature guest performers such as
Mike Mantione of Five Eight and Nick Niespodziani from
Y-O-U. There will be a 21 & over after party in the back
room of The Loft following the band's performance, where 99X
