Hey ${token1},
Welcome to the latest Atlanta Music Guide newsletter.

This newsletter is sponsored by Todd Alexander: LIFE = ENERGY:
Todd Alexander ArtistAtlanta artist Todd Alexander is premiering his exhibit LIFE = ENERGY at the Be Original Art Gallery (800 Miami Circle, Suite 210) with the opening reception Saturday August 6th, from 6pm - 10pm. The exhibit will last until September 6th. Alexander's artwork strives to depict the true energy of landscapes, along with the high energy level of urban life. The artist also incorporates his fascination with Cellular Biology by including bits of anatomy and physiology in both series. Alexander looks at both the cities and landscapes like the inner workings of the human body, with movement and exchange at a cellular and superficial level. Everything is energy in motion.

Atlantis Music Conference + Festival 2005With the Atlantis Music Conference + Festival next week, we decided to highlight some bands and showcases we think are worth checking out rather than having a featured band this month. Click here to check out our showcase picks. We'll be out and about at the Atlantis shows and parties, so check back for a recap and photos of the aftermath! We just did a recap for our friends at Ticket Alternative, so if you want to read up on some other showcases at 10 High, Velvet Underground, The Loft, + Vinyl, then check out their newsletter. Make sure you check out www.amgmobile.com when you're out and about for showcases, venue directions + phone numbers, etc.

Photos from last week's Downtown Rocks with Ben Folds, Kasabian, Red Letter Agent, + Linger are now up on our website. Again, The Loft and Vinyl played host to an unofficial after party where Kasabian proceeded to get as drunk as possible until 3:15am and catching their 5:30am flight in the most rock 'n roll fashion. Lead singer Tom Meighan recalled the first night of their US tour which kicked off at The Loft back in May, remarking that The Loft "was one of the best gigs of the tour and a great place to play."

Open Mic Madness has moved from its normal August slot to October 3-8 at Smith's Olde Bar! Past winners include Avenge Vegas, The Whigs, and Bain Mattox. Music madman (and Atlanta Music Guide Music Awards host) Josh Rifkind runs the annual single elimination tournament, which features over 120 bands/musicians performing their original music. Prizes include two full days at Nickel & Dime Recording Studios with platinum producer Don McCollister, a performance slot on The Rock Boat, and more.
