Bo Bice’s initial claim to fame came in 2005, when he finished 2nd to Carrie Underwood on FOX television’s American Idol. His first release following that show, The Real Thing, yielded the chart-topping single “Inside Your Heaven” and helped Bice attain the first of his two gold record awards.

“My next record will continue to reflect my love of my country, my family’ my faith and the emotional journey I’m on,” he said during a recent interview from a recording studio behind his home that he shares with his wife and three young children. “I moved my family to Nashville six years ago and that change is now reflected in my music.”

We caught up with Bice before his show this Friday, February 8th at Mill Town Music Hall in Bremen, GA (a short drive from Atlanta).

What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you? or at your show?
The coolest thing Fans have ever done for me was to get me a “Jimi Hendrix Monterey Pop Festival Guitar”. They presented it to me on stage during one of my shows.

What is the funniest moment you have had as an artist so far?

The funniest moment I’ve ever had was falling and breaking my foot on stage during the AI (American Idol) tour. Not too funny, more painful!

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

I always warm up with the song “In A Dream”. Been doing it for yrs. it did me right on the show. Why stop now?

If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?
“Southern”

How do you connect with a crowd?
The crowd is always the show. If your audience is into it then your band, crew & venue staff will love it too. There is no real trick to it… Just have fun!!

What type of influence has your hometown had on your music?

The state of Alabama has sculpted the way I’ve loved, lived & grown as a writer/ performer. I owe a lot to my home state for always giving me inspiration and guidance. Sweet Home it is.

What is the best way to write music?
Stay open to new ideas and experiences. If you keep your eyes and ears open, watch how situations affect others’ lives. Then put your spin on things. You not only get great ideas for songs…you’ll always be entertained by the goings on!

Don’t miss Bo Bice with Mama’s Blue Dress this Friday, February 8th at Mill Town Music Hall in Bremen, GA.
