Smith’s Olde Bar Gears Up for 500 Songs For Kids, April 28 – May 7

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

This quote really sums up the mission behind Songs For Kids Foundation. The Songs For Kids Foundation brings musicians to children’s hospitals and special needs camps. For a brief moment of their day, these children get to forget what ails them and listen to great music.

This year is the fifth annual installment of the 500 Songs For Kids charity event at Smith’s Olde Bar. For the past five years Smith’s has hosted this event that brings together 500 different bands or solo artists to play 500 different songs. Every year the event has a theme, and this year’s theme is The 500 Greatest Feel-Good Songs of All Time.

The event kicks off on April 28 and lasts until May 7. During those 10 nights over 1,500 musicians will grace the stage. Not only will you have the opportunity to help out a great charity, but you will be able to see one-of-a-kind covers by some of Atlanta’s greatest artists. Previous years have included performances by Cee Lo Green, Janelle Monae, Butch Walker, Arrested Development, Edwin McCain, Drivin’ n’ Cryin’, Manchester Orchestra and loads more.

And this year, Smith’s Olde Bar will  be hosting special shows downstairs in the Atlanta room. We’ve gotten a few announcements from the folks at 500 Songs For Kids, which you can see below. Follow their twitter account @songsforkids and keep checking back here for more updates.

Can’t miss performances by:
Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan and Levi Lowrey – Tuesday, May 3
