It has been a long time coming, but the famous European music streaming site Spotify has announced on its webpage today that “Spotify is coming to the U.S.” The page includes an area to sign up to become on of the first to be invited, but does not offer an exact launch date.

From the new site:

“The award-winning music service that’s taken Europe by storm will soon be landing on U.S. shores. Millions of tracks ready to play instantly, on your computer and your phone.”

Albeit the buzz, Spotify still has not landed a deal with mega label, Warner Music Group, which houses the likes of Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Bruno Mars and Green Day. Spotify has secured agreements with the other three major record labels — Universal Music Group, EMI Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Spotify’s entry into the U.S. has been much anticipated, largely because the service is so popular in Europe. The Swedish company claims 10 million registered users, including 1 million subscribers who pay a monthly fee for its premium service.
