The Fox Theatre Joins Ticket Alternative

Local ticketing heroes (and our parent company, so excuse us while we toot our own horn) has signed the beautiful, legendary Fox Theatre.

Here’s what the Ticket Alternative blog had to say:

Things just got a lot more Fabulous here at Ticket Alternative. We are so excited to announce that Atlanta’s legendary Fox Theatre has signed on with Ticket Alternative.

With Ticket Alternative an Atlanta company, the Fox Theatre holds a very special place in our hearts. We have all seen countless shows there, gazed up at the starry ceiling, listened to the famous Mighty Mo organ before film screenings, and even attended events like weddings and proms in its beautiful halls. And we can’t wait to serve the theater and its staff to the very best of our abilities.

We are truly thrilled to get the opportunity to have a venue like the Fox among our clients. Stay tuned for more information about on sales and ticket information!

What’s Up Monday?

Only in Atlanta, could you open up your concert calendar, just to find out that the Queen of Soul herself is playing on a Monday…There are a lot of old school royalty in this city tonight, pick a cool event and get to it!

-ARETHA. This woman needs no introduction. The Queen of Soul herself is bringing down the house tonight at The Fox Theater. Just do yourself the favor and go.

-Legendary front man of the Hold Steady, Craig Finn, is at The Earl tonight, for what will be a legendary filled hipster show.

-Smith’s Olde Bar loves musicians. Every Monday they host their Miller Site series in order to give new artists exposure. Tonight the Miller Lite Concert Series Presents: Wiggs live at Smith’s Olde Bar. Showtime Starts at 9 pm.

-Montreal-based musician, Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, is at the Drunken Unicorn tonight;  Pitchfork  listed her 2012 album, Visions, under their Best New Music category, so I am sure there will be a good crowd.

-Please don’t forget to support your own! It is Songwriter’s Open Mic Night at Eddie’s Attic, the home of so many of our favorite musicians.

Happy Lovely Sunny Thursday everyone! Take in all this warm weather while it lasts, because we’ll be going back to “normal” February temperatures (whatever that means) for the weekend. But for now, we’re getting out the flip-flops and shorts, and looking forward to a rocking weekend packed with shows and… oysters. … Continue Reading

What’s Up Thursday?

Um highs today in the 70′s?!?!?! I can’t help but to think that mother nature is just playing a little trick on us all. “Oh yeah, whip out the shorts and flip flops, and then right when you start getting a little color back in your cheeks BAM! I’m gonna drop the temps on you again.” Whatever Mama nature, we are gonna brave you anyway. Here’s your picks:

-It’s night two of Mike Cooley of the Drive by Truckers rare solo acoustic show at The Earl. This show is SOLD OUT so I hope you got yourself some tickets early!

-For those of you who know Zac Brown Band’s Clay Cook, the chances of spotting him tonight at the Fox Theater are pretty high. His favorite celebrity crush, Kelly Clarkson, will be there showing off her pipes. Sure to be an interesting crowd.

-Adron is the nom de guerre of Adrienne McCann, young singer and songwriter who has been lately rejuvenating the pop music scene in Atlanta, Georgia. Adron blends Classical harmony with the playfulness of ‘60s Brazilian Tropicàlia and the sentiment of 70′s songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Harry Nilsson. See her tonight at Eddie’s Attic.

-The Romans are going to be a bad you will be very familiar with in the upcoming months. Led by the multi talented Aaron Whitehouse, I have been a fan since day one. Make sure and catch their show tonight at the Drunken Unicorn before you will only be able to see them in a bigger venue.

-Tennessee twanger and picker, Rayland Baxter is known for his storytelling songs. Should be a great night for his show at Smith’s Olde Bar.

-Australian pop singer, Cody Simpson, will be whooing the wee ones tonight at Center Stage. So let this be a warning to you, there will be a swarm of screaming teenage girls on the corner of 17th and West Peachtree.

-And the hipsters will be coming in droves to the Star Bar in Little Five Points tonight where  former keyboard player/percussionist with Washed Out’s live band, Phil Jones his new band Dog Bite. Joining him tonight are Mirror Mode and Divine Interface.

AMG Weekend Picks: David Berkelely, Evanescence, Tab Benoit and More!

Happy gloomy Thursday afternoon people! We’re dipping in and out of this chilly weather, but it looks like we’ll have plenty of corkers to keep us out and about, and toasty all the while. It’s a slow-but-sure build up back to the usually packed weekends, and as we look to spring (check out all those on sales below!), we’ll be needing a few easy-going couple of weekends. So get yourself out there and get practicing for an epic year of shows, festivals, parties and more! … Continue Reading

Oh we are in the last days!!! Two days till vacation, and I am desperately trying to keep my focus! Even though this is not the busiest week for music, here are your Monday outings:

-Nashville’s happiest couple, Amy Grant and Vince Gill are in town spreading some Yuletide cheer. Join them at the Fox Theatre as they perform their famous 12 Days of Christmas.

-Glammed out dance poppers (who prefer to see themselves as a metal band…strange), Blood on the Dancefloor will be at the Masquerade as part of their Tis the Season to be Killing tour. Again, strange. Joining them  is the hip hop sounds of JJ Demon.

-Featuring members of Anti-Flag, Dandelion Snow and The Code, White Wives be blowing your ears out at the Drunken Unicorn.

-And I would be willing to bet that their will be some Christmas carolers over at Eddie’s Attic tonight as part of the weekly Songwriter’s Open Mic Night.

What’s Up Thursday?

September 8, 2011 Concert Calendar No Comments

Happy Thursday everyone! Hopefully your four day work week has been going by a little bit more quickly. Here are some fun things to keep your night occupied:

-All the Super Dope kids will be at The Buckhead Theater for Superschunk who will be kickin it old school with the Conversed, sweater-wearing indie rockers. Supporting Acts will be The Dodos and Times New Viking.

-It’s double a good time at the Fox Theatre, where Return to Forever IV: Zappa Plays Zappa, will be playing some oldies but goodies with a bangin new lineup.

-It will be kinda chilly over at the Masquerade where Polar Bear Club will be playing with Fireworks, Balance & Composure, and Make Do and Mend.

-It might be in the hierarchy, but San Francisco’s Royal Baths dont’ discriminate. Citing influences like the Velvet Underground, this band is worth checking out at The Earl.

-And of course, if you are not still buzzing from last night, Deadmau5 will be playing at The Tabernacle for another night of debauchery.

AMG Weekend Picks: Bob Dylan, Bon Iver, Drivin N Cryin and More!

The weekend is so almost here! And we’ve got some great options for you make it go all-too-fast, from new indie rock heroes, local favorites, crooners, legends and more. … Continue Reading

Here’s a little  Adele to get your Tuesday going:

What’s Going On Tuesday?

By Eileen Tilson

Happy Tuesday Y’all! Now just because it is a Tuesday,  does not mean that there are not a ton of music happenings going on around town, so just in case you find yourself itching to get out, here are some AMG suggestions:

-The ever so talented, David Gray, returns again for an intimate performance at the Fabulous Fox Theater.

-Fan of Pedro the Lion? We ARE!  And you will definitely be in the mix with the coolest hipsters when you check out PtL front man David Bazan tonight at The EARL.

-Atlanta’s own Nate Currin joins Jarrod Gorbel (of The Honorary Title) for a groovy little set at Vinyl.

-It’s always a good night at the world famous Eddie’s Attic, so if you are in the mood for a little acoustic guitar pickin’ Jay Brannan & Tristan Clopet will be the mellow duo to watch over in Decatur.

- But just in case you don’t have much money, WIN SOME! Every Tuesday night at the Tin Lizzy’s in Buckhead, Dirty South Trivia presents: Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll; put what brain cells you have left to use!

AMG Weekend Picks: Rebecca Loebe, Loretta Lynn, Dick Dale and More!

There’s a whole lotta legends coming to town this weekend. What with Loretta Lynn, Dick Dale and Dave Alvin all playing gigs, and the magnificent TONYs being streamed at The Fox, we’ve got a galaxy of stars in our eyes! And then there’s the Midtown Summer Stroll on Saturday and Sunday, with pop up shops, food trucks and more all over Midtown Atlanta. We can’t wait!
